Update from Nathan :-)
I received an email from Nathan today and here is what I know.
"was posted at site, my site is called kantende. it means 'little grass'. my house had most of the frame of roof, but no thatch, dirt floor, very old insaka, no toilet and no bathing stall. so i was put in an abandoned house for the past week while the villagers have been building my house. my site is very bush, there are probably only 4 of us that are so far out. i will have to hitch a lift on public transport back to my village around noon. it promises to be a very rough and dusty 3hrs.
mail is very difficult (i really am in the middle of no-where). the fact that i got email now is that my PCVL picked me up this morning to come back into kitwe to get my bank account number. being in kitwe promises to be a rare event. i will purchase envelopes, and stamps (maybe) but i will have to depend upon a mission 10k away for mail, they may go to town once a week. so, i apologize to everyone for not getting mail out (yes, moses, i got the point of your hate mail :) and was touched by the level of thought you put into it). it's been impossible for me in the last two weeks and may take another 2 wks before i get the letters enroute. each province has a pcvl house and one pcvl with a land rover to take care of everything/everyone in their province. mine takes care of central and copperbelt provs. she's great, i'm lucky to have her. anyway, there is so much i want to tell, but haven't time.
i received A-Cheries letter #8, please pass the following on to her: it's a good thing i didn't tell my b-day to my family here. they would have felt obliged to spend money (that they don't have much of). poorer zambian families forget about b-days.
got mom's letter #6, please pass this on: that i haven't been sick since 8 july, i think i've fully adjusted to the food. eating fish bones, skin, eyes, etc by one small candleflame is un-nerving. my mother here is very much like my mother. eat your fruit. eat more. i've even eaten their cauliflower w/o question. yours, n"
That's all for now. Be sure to check his website for the new address.
